Souhir Hammami
Souhir Al-Hammami is an international expert in energy and climate policy, currently serving as Director of Scientific and Technical Information at the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) in Paris. Appointed in 2024, she leads the Institute’s global strategy for scientific knowledge dissemination, digital outreach, and stakeholder engagement in sustainable refrigeration technologies. With over 12 years of experience across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Souhir previously held senior roles at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE). Her work has focused on developing green cooling financial mechanisms, district energy systems, and climate policy frameworks across multiple continents.
A Humboldt Political Sciences fellow at Free University Berlin and trained electrical and automation engineer, she is recognised for her ability to bridge science, policy, and innovation. Al-Hammami regularly represents the IIR at international forums, including the International Energy Agency and the Montreal Protocol’s MOP36, advocating for data-driven and equitable climate solutions in the refrigeration sector
