Masayuki Tanabe
With over 26 years of experience in process safety, Dr. Masayuki Tanabe has led the implementation of safety management systems in multiple large-scale LNG EPC projects across Southeast Asia and Oceania. He has held key leadership roles, including Process Safety and Technical Safety Manager for major contractor joint ventures, overseeing safety integration from early-stage design through execution.
He has been deeply involved in developing the Basis of Design (BOD) and Safety Philosophies for numerous LNG projects at the Feasibility, Pre-FEED, and FEED stages, aligning safety with business and regulatory requirements.
In addition, he has applied advanced safety case methodologies in the UK nuclear sector and currently serves as a Visiting Professor at Yokohama National University, where he conducts research on risk-based process safety and mentors future leaders in the field.
