Scientific Instruments, Inc. was founded in 1967 by aeronautical engineer Jack Hoey and physicist Gilbert Halverson, developing first-of-a-kind cryogenic thermometry for NASA Programs. In 1975, SI invented and patented the first LTD system: an intelligent system comprising of multi-sensors embedded into a single probe capable of measuring Level, Temperature and Density inside LNG Storage Tanks.
